I grew up on a cattle ranch in rural Southeastern Oklahoma and have Native American heritage. My community was very small and there were only nine in my high school graduating class. My journey from then until now has been a remarkable path influenced and guided by many amazing people and opportunities in all phases of my life that have made indelible imprints in both my professional and personal persona.
Throughout the years, I have been a Captain in the U.S. Army, a Police Officer, a SWAT Team member, an institutional commodity trader and risk manager, an international strategy consultant and subject matter expert (SME), an energy executive and board member, an entrepreneur, an author, a lecturer, coach and mentor, all of which have afforded me invaluable and varied perspectives across many disciplines.
As an award winning author, my books include The Flyover Nation: Energy's Role in a Troubled Heartland and Power Play - Who's in Control of the Energy Revolution?, and I have contributed over forty papers and articles for industry publications. Having a ranching and Native American heritage, I am a strong advocate for rural education and economic development initiatives..
